Abstract:

Organ or tissue fibrosis represents the terminal stage of various diseases, in which epithelial-tomesenchymal transition (EMT) and endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) play pivotal roles in the fibrotic process. The zinc finger transcription factor Snail facilitates the transition of normal epithelial or endothelial cells into mesenchymal cells by mediating multiple pathways and signaling cascades, thereby contributing to the initiation and progression of fibrosis in various organs. This review focuses on the regulatory role of Snail-mediated EMT/EndMT in organ fibrosis, aiming to provide an essential theoretical foundation for further understanding the pathogenesis and developing therapeutic strategies for fibrotic diseases.
