Abstract:

The development of synthetic biology is increasingly transforming traditional industrial production models and offering innovative solutions to global challenges in food, energy, and the environment. In the future food sector, genome editing technologies enable the precise optimization of genetic traits in plants, animals, and microorganisms, enhancing the yield and quality of food materials. Cell culture techniques have made it possible to produce high-quality meat and dairy products in the lab, significantly reducing environmental impacts. Precision fermentation is driving the development of functional foods and personalized nutritional products, improving resource efficiency while lowering greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the potential for sustainable development. This article provides a comprehensive review of the planning, research progress, industrial developments, and regulatory approval processes in synthetic biology within the future food sector, and explores the broader applications of these innovations in the years ahead.
