Abstract:

In recent years, as meningeal lymphatic vessels(MLVs) have been further investigated, there is increasing evidence that MLVs are critical to the pathological progression of central nervous system diseases. Vascular endothelial growth factor C/vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGF-C/VEGFR-3) signaling pathway is a critical regulator of MLVs remodeling. The purpose of this paper is to review the mechanism of the VEGF-C/VEGFR-3 signaling pathway and its mediated MLVs remodeling in the pathogenesis and progression of central nervous system diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and to look forward to manipulating MLVs’ function as a new therapeutic strategy for treatment of central nervous system diseases.
