Abstract:
Essential hypertension is an important public health problem, and is a risk factor for many kinds of cardiovascular diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate the expression of target mRNAs at the post-transcriptional level. In recent years, a large number of studies have shown that miRNAs are involved in the occurrence and development of hypertension through a variety of ways, including triggering vascular endothelial cell dysfunction, phenotype transformation of vascular smooth muscle cell, and overreaction to renin-angiotensin system, etc. In this article, the research progress of miRNA in hypertension in recent years is reviewed, with a view to elucidate its mechanism in the occurrence and development of hypertension and to provide ideas for exploring new therapeutic targets for hypertension.
