Abstract: Abstract: The blood brain barrier (BBB) is a structure for maintaining the stability of the internal and external environment of the central nervous system (CNS). It plays an important role in protecting the CNS from the stimulation of external risk factors. Methamphetamine (METH) abuse has synergistic damage effects on BBB of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected people, greatly increasing the incidence of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) and HIV-associated dementia (HAD). Therefore, the research progress of the damage of BBB by METH and HIV-Tat protein was summarized in this paper, so as to provide reference for the further study of the synergic damage of BBB by METH and HIV-Tat protein, and provide basis for the research of related therapeutic drugs.
