Abstract: Abstract: Glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) exists in all living organisms and plays an important role in the Krebs cycle, ammonia metabolism regulation, energy production and cell signaling. Many researches have been carried out on GDH in recent years, including plant nitrogen metabolism, microbial physiology, animal neural regulation and its application in industrial production. However, there is still lack of comprehensive review on the relationship between this enzyme and human diseases. Therefore, this article reviewed the new development in the characteristics of GDH, and its relationship with some diseases, especially with hyperinsulinism/hyperammonemia syndrome, Parkinson's disease and cancers to provide useful information for relative researches in the future.
