Abstract: Abstract: The Chromosome-Centric Human Proteome Project (C-HPP) is a major international cooperation project proposed by the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) at the 9th international conference on proteomics held in Sydney, Australia in September, 2010. Similar to the Biology/Disease-driven Human Proteome Project (B/D-HPP), C-HPP is one component of Human Proteome Project (HPP). Twenty-five research teams from 17 countries including China, America, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, etc, are cooperating to complete the three goals of C-HPP, which are (1) to detect, verify, and validate the protein-coding gene products as well as their single amino acid variants (SAAVs), post-translational modifications (PTMs) and other possible variants on the 24 human chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA; (2) withdraw the over-annotated coding genes; (3) achieve gene mapping and address reannotation of the human genome within 10 years (2012/9-2022/9). HE Fu-Chu and XU Ping from Academy of Military Medical Sciences, YANG Peng-Yuan from Fudan University, LIU Si-Qi from BGI and HE Qing-Yu from Jinan University, and CHEN Yu-Ru from Academia Sinica will respectively lead the work to research the protein-coding genes of human chromosome1, 8, 20 and 4. This paper reviews the strategies and progress of the work Chinese teams undertook in C-HPP, and proposes prospects for our work.
