Abstract: Abstract:  Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a T cell mediated autoimmune disease. Previous researches focus on the roles of CD4+ T cells, including the pathogenic and immune-regulatory roles. However, more and more evidences show that CD8+ T cells act as an important factor in the development of MS. CD8+ T cells were founded in the lesions of MS, and myelin antigen specific CD8+ T clones were isolated from MS patients. The autoreactive CD8+ T cells can damage target cells directly or amplify local inflammation through secreting cytokines and chemokines. Illustrating the roles of CD8+ T cells in MS will help us better understand the mechanisms of MS and find new prevention and therapeutic methods.
