Abstract: Abstract: Pancreatic fibrosis is one of the dominant pathological characters of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. Activated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) play a pivotal role in pancreatic fibrosis. The activation of PSCs is regulated by several signaling transduction pathways: mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK), phosphatidy-linositol 3-kinase (PI3K), Smad signaling transduction protein, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR), Rho-ROCK. Identification of signaling molecules that play a crucial role in PSCs activation is important for the development of anti-fibrotic therapies. This review aims at summarizing the signaling transduction pathways that associated with the activation of PSCs and highlighting the recent advancements.
